Sgorrabreac enjoyed a good night at Leith Folk Club on Halloween night 2006 with a lot of the Sgorrabreac regulars singing along with gusto. This followed a successful West Highland tour in summer 2006 and the launch of Chaill mi mo Chridhe, their second album, at Coda Music on 11th August during the Edinburgh Festival Thanks to everyone who came along to rural and urban gigs and to Ian R Hardie for his fantastic sound set-up . Thanks also to Coda Music for their continued support of the band and its activities! Moran taing! Thanks also to the programmes Caithream Ciuil, Mire ri Mor, Durachdan, Fonn is Aria, all at Radio nan Gaidheal, to Robbie Shepherd and the Reel Blend and Iain Anderson at Radio Scotland and to Steve Dietrich at Radio Hartford (Connecticut) for their airplay of the band's material. Also to Folk Radio UK, where Michel's rendition of Chaneil a chuis a cordadh rium reached number thirteen in one of their top twenties! Joe Cavanagh of Connecticut Radio is also playing the band's CDs. Meanwhile you can hear Sgorrabreac's music featured on 365 internet radio, both at Gaelsong, at Highlander Radio and at Folk Radio UK. More power to all your elbows!
Sgorrabreac's CD "Eadar Muir is Tir" was RECORD OF THE WEEK on the BBC Raidio nan Gaidheal's programme Caithream Ciuil for week beginning 20 June 2005
CD Reviews: Eadar Muir is Tir:
'superb debut CD' (tradmusic.com)
'A lovely CD with some great songs. if you like Gaelic song combined with instrumentals then this CD is for you.' (Footstompin')
CD review from the Scotsman newspaper Gaelic column of 15th October 2005:
Bliadhna as déidh dhaibh tighinn còmhla tha còmhlan ùr Gàidhlig á Dùn Éideann, Sgorrabreac, air a' chiad chlàr aca a thoirt a-mach. Tha dusan òran Gàidhlig ri chluinntinn air Eadar Muir is Tìr bho air feadh na Gaidhealtachd. Tha Michel Byrne 'na eòlaiche air bàrdachd Deòrsa mhic Iain Deòrsa, agus seo cothrom dha aonan dhiubh a sheinn, gu sèimh, réidh.
Se Mairead NicNeacail ás an Eilean Sgitheanach a tha gabhail a' mhórchuid de na h-òrain. Tha e soilleir g'eil e a' còrdadh rithe a bhith seinn... Tha an dithist aca math fhéin a' gabhail Mòrag Bheag - òran beag aotram mu Mhòrag Bheag aotram. Agus tha Orna Gilchrist 's a stoidhle fìdhlearachd ghlan Éireannach a' cur crìoch air an lorg le port sunndach a tha a h-uile biod cho aotram ris an òran (Catriona Black of the Scotsman)
